Pictures of the Miami marathon and half marathon from our window. The marathon was Sunday morning, they started at 6 Am, and started coming in to the finish line around 8 Am. Temp was around 65 in the morning. There were about 15,000 runners this year. There were still runners coming in when we left for church. The traffic was a mess getting out of downtown.
After church we stooped at the park for a picnic lunch, then stopped and looked at an open house. The house, on one of the inlets, was VERY nice and probably worth over 10 million, includes live in house keeper and maintenance man.
We stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home and the girls got new games for the Wii (Mario cart and Rayman rabbids). Of course they spent the rest of the evening playing on the Wii.

Out on a bike ride.
We had a picnic in the park again today, stopped and watched the dolphins playing in the bay, and then finished our bike ride. It was a great afternoon. The sun was out and it was in the mid 70’s.

Do you see what I see?

I have been working on some new double knit writs warmers using 2 colors.
They are reversible, with the flower on the top and vines on the bottom.
They are almost done and they look fabulous. I have been working on then for
a couple of weeks. But...... I have a problem. The thumb is on the wrong
side of one of them. Now I need to decide what to do with them. Do I finish
them and where them with one pink flower and one purple flower, Take them
apart and make something else, Or take one apart and fix that one? For now
it will sit and wait while I work on the table cloth.

One of my favorite toys

I found this top at Mom and Dad's when we where there for Christmas. I asked Dad if he could put a hook on the top of it for me. I swiped some roving from Mom and spun up a little bit of yarn on it. It spins really nice and is a really nice little size that fits on my lap when sitting down.

The wrist warmers are done. They are a bit tight on the bind off edge, but fit nice. Now I will be nice and warm since the high will be only 60 today, not quite cold enough for the heat, but chilly when you are out in the wind. Might be a good night for the hot tub.

Stash Enhancement eXpedition

Sunday after church and our picnic in the park we went to the yarn shop(my gift from hubby). It wasn’t too hard to find. Hubby had major sticker shock though. He has never been to a yarn shop with me before and was very surprised when he paid for the stuff I picked out. It may be a while before I get him back to a yarn shop again.

I finished the January cowl and had enough yarn left to start some wrist warmers to match. I am still working on the table cloth little by little. I got a size 4 circular at the yarn shop, so it is much easier to work on now.

What day is it today?

All I heard this morning on the new was about the inauguration. What they will be doing, where the parade goes and what they will be wearing.

Not one mention about why today is a holiday. Martin Luther King Jr. was an important man to this country and today he should be remembered for his contributions to this country.

3 Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!
Tie them around your neck as a reminder.
Write them deep within your heart.

What once was lost now is found.

We haven’t seen our coffee grinder or the top of our hand blender since we moved from New Mexico. We searched all the boxes that we brought down with us and then searched all the extra boxes still in Minnesota when we went back for Christmas. We thought they had been sucked into our black hole. We have a black hole that follows us around to every house we live in and eats things. Not things that we don’t need or wouldn’t miss of course, but thing that we use a lot and always miss when we don’t have.  The black hole didn’t have them, they were in a box with some glasses and plates that had been put in the trailer because we didn’t need our plates and cups down here.  We found them when we went up to PSL today to move the car and trailer to the storage space. We will be celebrating with fresh ground coffee (for Hubby) and smoothies (for me and the girls) in the morning.

Passage Luke 15:8-10:

Parable of the Lost Coin

8 “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins[a] and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and sweep the entire house and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she finds it, she will call in her friends and neighbors and say, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost coin.’ 10 In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.”

How to Clean Windows.

The window cleaners were out cleaning the windows on the building yesterday. It was fun to watch them repel down the building. Tasha made sure they knew she was in charge.

14 Years

Yesterday was our 14 year anniversary. I can’t believe it has been that long.

We went out for a very nice dinner and had a great time talking and enjoying the scenery.

Genesis 2:23-24 (New King James Version)

23 And Adam said:
“This is now bone of my bones
      And flesh of my flesh;
      She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

In search of the yarn store

I ventured out today with the car. Since the accident I have been staying very close to home (within the metro mover area). Miami traffic scares me. I know where the closest grocery store is and how to get there, but not much else that needs the car. Today I took the car, my notes with the addresses  for my three stops (the Mall, the yarn store, and grocery store) and headed south. I drove for 10 miles and 45 minutes later found the first stop, the Mall (JCPenny’s for a pair of jeans for hubby (anniversary present)). Found the jeans, not the ones he likes of course, they don’t carry those anymore, but ones similar. He is very picky about jeans and only wears Levis.

I then decided that since the yarn store was still over 40 more blocks south, it was after 4:00, and me without my GPS (hubby) in rush hour traffic, I was not going to try to find it. Do I really need that size four circular? Since it is the only size I don’t have and of course need it finish the table cloth I am working on, but can only do one row at a time since it is a lace pattern without a chart and I don’t like lace patterns without a chart (They give me headaches) and there are over 400 stitches already on the four double points, and one row takes me almost half an hour.

Where was I, oh yeah, the Mall.

I knew how to get to the grocery store from the mall, which was of course in the opposite direction of the yarn store. So we decided  to head north to the grocery store .… The trip was sort of successful, I did make it to the grocery store for food and hubby will have a new pair of jeans. Maybe next week if I am felling adventurous I will go out (with GPS) and try to find the yarn store, but for now I am glad they sell yarn and needles online. I will just have to practice patience and wait for my size four circulars.

Photobucket

January is for me. Most of the year I work on knitting stuff for other people with a little bit for me, but January is all me. No projects for Christmas, or anyone else.I didn't think I would have any trouble with that, but after some socks and a little doily, I didn't know what to start.

I have wanted to make a table cloth, so I spent a couple of days trying to find a round pattern that I liked that would be big enough. I finally found a pattern I liked, so am getting started on that. After this is done, I don't know what will be next. I have some ideas, but don't have the yarn for them. I have some yarn, without ideas for it. Some thinking and planning time will be in order.

Mom’s birthday is today. I can’t tell you how old she is though. I think she stopped counting a long time ago, but she says that she grew up with the dinosaurs.

Happy birthday Mom. You are my favorite Mom… J
We Love you. Have a Great Day. Keep your feet warm.

More Christmas for the girls.

This message was sent using the Picture and Video Messaging service from Verizon Wireless!

Back in Miami. We left Minnesota Saturday evening. We drove back down with no problems except the snow/ ice problems in Wisconsin and Illinois. We got in Monday morning about 4 am. Hubby and I took turns driving as always. I didn’t get any knitting time since I drove mostly in the morning and spent the afternoon trying to get the Vikings game on hubby’s blackberry. We ending up only getting the highlights and then found a radio station for the second half of the game. Everyone (except hubby) took the day off and unpacked the car and put stuff away. There was not much to put away since we have the smallest car available.

We had a very busy week last week. we had lunches out, sleepovers and lots of play days. New Years Eve we went to a party with the small group from our home church. New Years Day we had family over for the afternoon and for dinner. The twins (cousins) slept over and played with the girls on the Wii in the morning. Saturday was errand and packing (hubby had a continuing education class all day).

Today it is back to school work and chores. I will get the Wii set up after school is done and then have some play time.
